I just took a little trip, and noticed something buzzing under the hood. I popped the hood and this thing is vibrating. What is it, and why would it suddenly vibrate?
That Vacuum Pump Is For Two Things
Auto Lock Hubs And A/c Vent Controls.
If You Were Not Using 4x4 My Bet Would Be At The A/c Vents.
Follow The Vac Line From The Pump To Where It Enters Thru The Firewall And Into The Cab ( Behind The Dash ) And Check For A Loose Line Or Connection.
Good Luck

Well, Its a 2wd, so you are saying it has to be the ac vents? I have everything turned off, and it still does it. I tried to look for a leak, but I couldn't find one. Is there a trick to finding a vacuum leak?
Ok You Are A 2x4 So Then That Leaves The A/c Vents.
Also Check The Large Black Plastic Canister That Is Next To The Pump For Cracks And Make Sure The Vac Lines Are Hooked Up To It Good.
The Vacuum That The Pump Makes Is Stored In The Canister And Then It Goes To The A/c Vent Controls.
I Think You Have A Canister Because I Do But I Have 4x4.
Anyway ..... Also Check Your Pump By Disconnecting The Vac Line From The Pump And Then Plugging It ( The Pump ) With Your Finger. When Plugging It With Your Finger, It Should Shut Off After A Few Seconds. If It Does Then You Know The Pump Should Be Ok And That You Have A Leak Somewhere.
Hope This Helps

Ok Great, Ill try to get the line off tomorrow, I dont want to break something, then Id really be in trouble. I read your past thread, and a few others, and Im kinda stumped. 1) I dont have 4x4, and 2) all of my ac controls work from vent to defrost ect. I read something about a sylonoid... Where is that? I see the canister and the pump, but not a sylonoid? If I cant get the line off, can I cut it?
The small rubber vacuum hose will easily pull of of the pump so you can hold your finger on it to see if it shuts off. If you have a small leak somewhere, your vents will continue to work but the pump may continually run or run longer than what it should. If you have a small leak somewhere, that will be the challange to locate. Being a 2WD, the task should be easier since the vacuum only runs to the heater duct controls. If the pump continues to run with the line to the canister plugged, chances are your pump is shot.
Shouldn't that plastic "T" on the right of the picture have a line on it? That would sure be a vacuum leak. It may be plugged if you don't have a 4X4, sort of spitballing here.
