I have a 2004 explorer with a v6 and the automatic 4wd. I feels like it is in 4wd all the time. I hit the auto button and it stays the same. I have hit the 4x4 high and drove a few feet then hit the auto button and it did nothing. Can someone help me out?? Do I have a problem with my 4x4?

hitting auto shouldn't do anything, that's the normal setting. If it's in auto, it's supposed to engage only when the rear wheels slip. there is no indicator that it is in auto
If you hit 4x4 high, you should see a light on the dash, left hand side, It's kind of obscured by the steering wheel. While turning, you will know 4x4 is engaged b/c the truck will feel stiff to turn. Hitting auto will turn the full time 4x4 off and go back to auto.
