I need to replace my lower actuator in my steering column. I have the steering wheel off and all I see are a bunch of wires to blinkers, hazard, etc.. How do I take that whole assembly off so I can get in behind it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
First of all welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum.
Second, how about a little background info so we can help you a little better. Model year, does it have cruise control, tilt wheel, etc. would be a good start because these things changed a bit over the years. Would hate to dole out a bunch of info for a 95 model with tilt and cruise if yours is an 83 with a standard column and no cruise.
I've dug into my column here recently, broke the arm to the ignition box, mine's an 88 with cruise and tilt, and after getting deep in there, I'll tell you what I intend to do. I'm going to replace the whole column and hope it lasts. For me, it's a lot more simple and straight forward then trying to piece the column back together the way it was, it's like a jigsaw puzzle. But good luck in whatever you end up doing!
