ok so here is what happened. i took my truck into a shop to get the heater core replaced - thats a pretty big job that requires moving and removing some a/c stuff so i figured leave it to someone else. anywho truck was running perfect when i took it in there, and now its running like crap. found one vacuum line that was either missing a plug os ?? and the vacuum line to my egr valve, it was plugged, when i put it back on the engine almost died - with out it on it seems to run better but i still feel like there is some power lacking now, compared to what it was last week.
what i need though is a vaccum diagram to see if any lines got misplaced in the reassembly, so does anyone have a digram for a 1977 ford 250 with a 460. thanks in advance.
I don't know of any right off hand, but I know that the vac. line for the egr valve should only have vac. durring acceleration. No vac. at idle. You also may want to check your vac. line at the distributor. It should also get vac. when you open the throttle. If it is not, that would definately cause a loss of power from not getting enough timing advance. I believe that both of these reun thru a vac. tree on an temp. switch which are located in the thermostat housing and on the intake manifold. I think that they go to separate ones, they shouldn't go to the same tree.
yeah i still have the decal i think, i will check it tomorrow. if i can find it i will post it, maybe that can help. i am stumped.
but oh well, i got a new edelbrock manifold i was gonna put on this weekend, my stock one has a vacuum leak so i figured if i am going to have to take it off might as well replace it with something a little better. also today i installed the keyless entry from LMC. i love it! i cant stop playing with it, and tomorrow i am picking up an indash cd/mp3 player, and i just installed new speakers. things are coming together, now if only i coud get her to run like she did before i had heat, then things would be perfect.
