Weird temperature fluctuation
’84 F250, 351W. I’ve got a temperature problem. When I start the cold engine it warms up fine if the selector on the climate control is set to ‘Off’. If the selector is set to anything else but off the temperature rises on the gauge to almost ‘H’ and the heat coming out of the vents is scolding hot. if I proceed to drive, the temp will begin to fall, if I stop at a red light, like everyone should, the temp rises. If I move the selector back to off the temperature falls back to the middle of the gauge. I can then drive and stop and no fluctuation in the temp. If I move the selector to heat, the air coming out of the vent is not nearly as hot as it was before but as the gauge rises, the temperature of the air coming out of the vents rises. I’ve put in a new thermostat and I’ve replaced the radiator with an upgraded ‘heatbuster’. The clutch fan seems to be working properly. I removed all of the smog stuff and the A/C pump along with all of the vacuum lines except for those that run the climate control stuff. What, Where, Why and how do I fix it? Thanks
