egr code (too much e.g.?)

1996 e-250 351 e4od 200,000 plus miles
anyone have any idea on how to lower the egr
flow. I keep getting a 402 code that says my egr
is allowing to much exhaust gas thru

Could be you've got some carbon build-up in there that's holding the valve open a bit. I'd take it off and have a look, and clean it out.

have thought about a plate with maybe a smaller hole
to allow less flow
inside of valve and all visable passages are clean as a
whistle. no carbon, not even any soot
must be running clean
valve opens and closes with vacuum pump properly
wonder with all the code questions if a forum dedicated to them would be possible

I like the idea of a forum just for troubleshooting efi and code sources. Maybe one for obd I 83-95 engines and one for 96-new obd II engines. Efi deserves it's own circle for the unique problems(challenges) that arrise.

I dont know of anyone that makes a plate
easy to make with a 1/4" plate of steel or
alum. and a gasket
just use the EGR valve as a template
