Power steering pumps

Does anyone know if a later model PS pump will work with a 67-79 gearbox? More specifically, how do the pressures differ from each type of unit? For example, will a pump from an '83 provide too much pressure, or are they all the same?

If you can mout it, geve it a try, I use a mid 70's pump on a Toyota box on my 4x4. Pressure is pressure is what was said when I did it.

my 69 has a pump off of a late 80's mustang...works great, less hp to operate it
