ok, i have an 89f150 4x4, i put in a 302 ho, mass air conv, and i'm running the accel 300+ ign control, everything was fine and then i unhooked the battery while i was putting on the lift kit and now my check engine light is coming on. but, it only comes on if i go through town, if i take the interstate it never comes on ( and no i can't just only drive on the interstate, it is a 4x4) i pulled the codes and get, 85 canister purge(since there isn't one on my truck i guess it'll always be there), thats the only continuous mem. one, then a 14 (pip circuit failure), and 19 (pcm internal volt/no power to processor) on the engine running codes. i have never had any driveablity problems to speek of no cut'n out, miss'n or anything. anyone deal with anything like this ?
Please check your codes again. You can't get a 14 on the engine running test according to fordfuelinjection.com.
A 19 on engine running is RPM erratic, dropped too low during test. Not the PCM problem.
sorry it takes so long for me to re-post, i don't own a cpu. But from what i read you have to clear the koeo codes prior to running the koer codes, so these codes are all koeo codes, 85 is the first set, then in the second set of koeo codes, which i called er codes by mistake,(sorry) are the 14 and 19.So i haven't done the running codes yet going on this assumption.
Disconnect the battery for about 20 minutes to let the computer reset. Hook it back and drive it around for a while, hopefully triggering a check engine light.
yeah, I unhooked the batt. left it off over night one time, even reset the codes by unhooking the sto while the continuous mem codes were being displayed, each time after i'd check the codes and i'd get the 11's in each code set, one drive will set the 85 in koeo, the continuous mem codes of 14 and 19 takes about 3 drives (20 min drives)
Yer right, the 85 you will have to live with, just be sure the vac lines are plugged good.
the 14 in Cm is the PIP which is inside the distributor, a bad connection to the EEC (try cleaning the eec connector) or an intermittant resistor in the wiring harness. Many people just replace the distributor rather than go thru the hassle or replacing the PIP.
The 19 in CM is Cylinder identification failure. Could be fixed by the PIP if its not detection #1
weirdly enough the dist is a new accel,i put it in when i put the motor in, i'll re-check the harness for good connection. But is there any way that when you put in a dist, if it's not in right, that you could get this code, like say if it wasn't completely at top dead center or to much advance ?
