ticking when heating

i just made a long trip from atlanta to Murphy north carolina. about 150 miles. all went well but when i got here i noticed that about every 10 or 15 seconds i would hear a click. it only does it when the heats on. i haven't tried the AC. the heat still blows warm. what's this? help!! if this is going to hurt anything i'll just make the long drive home in the cold. if it's an easy fix i'll look at it up here. otherwise i can take a look at it at home. thanks for any help.

What kind of vehicle? Is it a one single click or a constant clicking noise?

sorry for the lack of info, i was distracted while typing that. It's an 89f150 witha 351. the ticking is a single click then 10/ 15 seconds later another single click and so on. the clicking is from the engine bay. Thanks

Was this on defrost by any chance? If so, and you have a/c; the a/c will cycle on & off while in defrost.
It's all I could think of...

Kewl!
fwiw, the ac gets kicked on to dehumidify the air which helps in drying the windshield
