I have a 99 F-150 4x4 with a 4.6, the engine idles fine, but everytime i give it any gas it just bogs down and barely has enough power to even spin the tires in the snow. I took it to a repair shop and they ran the codes and checked everything from sensors and sparkplugs to the coilpack, the pump, the injectors and cylinoid, and they still cant figure out what the problem is. Also, right when the motor started acting up, the truck started shifting funny and wouldnt even shift into overdrive, which i suppose could be due to the engine not running right... Any advice would be great seeing as its been in the shop for almost a week!
if the fuel pressure is fine then try unplugging the mass air flow sensor and see if it runs better.the barometric pressure could be way low and cause the fuel system to go exstreamly lean.
My truck is at the local repair shop since i have run out of ideas, they have checked the sensor and its fine, but they did say that the reason it isnt running right is due to the mixture being way to lean, but why its so lean they cant figure, they have tried everything and are down to a couple of last resorts after calling a Ford Diagnostics Center in Indianapolis, its is either the main engine computer or a some sensor on the crankshaft telling when to to send a signal to the different cylinders, the problem is when throttle is applied, it goes haywire and the signals are jumping all around and the engine isnt firing right, i am sure glad i didnt try to tackle this problem on my own, or i'd be knee deep
the shop finally found what the problem is.. there is a cylinoid in the transmission that was detecting to much pressure and shutting down half my engines cylinders....they unplugged it and it ran fine. They have a new one on the way and hopefully that will fix my problems...hope to God there isnt problems in my transmission and it was just a faulty electrical problem
