Tires Need Replacing!!

Well I didn't want to highjack 00jake's thread so I figure I'd start my own. I currently have Wild Country Radial XTXs in a 75/285/16 and am looking for a replacement. I think I'm gonna stick with the same size but these wild countrys are junk. They have like 20k on them and I'd be suprised if they make it past 25k-28k. they're terrible in the snow and even worse on ice.

So whats a good all weather tire that I can rely on and get some mileage out of or is 30k as much as I'm gonna get outa a set on a SD? I was leaning towards the BFGs but I don't know anyone with them on a 3/4 ton. everyone I know has them on 1/2s but they have great traction and seem to make it into the 40s and 50s before they need replacing. I also have heard great things about the Revo's but again I don't really know anything about them. I have access to a friends set thats around 75% for like $250-300 (he went to Harley rims), can't remember what he told me but it seemed like a fair price if they are in that 75% range. Any other sugestions. I was thinking in that 6-800 dollar range and they have to be good in snow and Ice, can't be overly noisy, and have to last a decent amount of time. A D rated tire is fine but I would perfer an E rated load range.

SLE,

I've been running BFG A/T's (295/75R16) since Sept. of '03, with close to 40k on them. These tires have taken me from hell and back, and asked for seconds with a smile. Stupidly, I've never rotated them, and the rears are chewed up beyond belief, but the fronts are still in good shape and I expect to get a minimum of another 10k to 15k out of them.

They ride plenty smooth on the highway, perform excellent in the rain, and are good offroad. I've only had the BFG's in the snow once, so I can't comment on their winter performance.

I'm so confident in them that I bought a set of two slightly used BFG's to go on the rear as opposed to buying 4 new tires.

I believe that running the correct pressures is KEY to getting good life out of tires on a SD. Personally, I run 55 in the front, and 45 in the rear (more in the rear if towing of hauling anything of a considerable weight).

The BFG's are pricey, but if you've got the dough, they're the way to go!

I've had BFG ATs for 24,000 miles

And have not had any problems. Of course it is hard to any easier on tires than I am. I'm sure I can easily get another 12,000 or more miles out of mine. I think they work very well on 4x4 250s.

I have LT315/75-16 BFG All-Terrain KO's on my 04 F-250 Duty and love them. I have had these tires on since May of this year (5000 miles). These are load range "D" tires as where the stock tires were "E" range, I was a bit concerned about this when I first bought them because I use this truck to haul my 77 F-150's around. Seems to be no problem and they even feel like they have greater stability than the "E" range tires. My wife and I have driven it in the snow quite a bit this month as we live in Michigan and we seem to be having an "old fashioned" winter this year with lots of snow so far, and they are great in the snow. I own 4 set's of BFG all terrains and plan on purchasing more in the near future for replacements on my trucks. I usually get around 35-40K from a set, and do not use my trucks lightly. These are a very good all around tire. -Ed
