Since I've been having some health issues, I've decided to start taking vitamins. My eating habits aren't that great and I'm pretty sure I'm not getting what I need. I grabbed a bottle of Vitamin C (500mg) and a bottle of dietary supplement.
Anyone else take vitamins? Anything else you take in that line of discussion? Any advice or precautions?
I take a multi-vitamin that is from Walmart. It is among the few that isn't loaded with iron. When you pass 40, you don't need any iron as it will plate on your arteries.. I also take an Omega 3 that I get at Walmart. It is the Rexall brand. It controls the blood pressure and cholestrol. I also take saw palmetto for the prostate, not that I have any problems but I don't want any either. I ocassionally take some dandelion root for a mild diuretic when I get too much salt and the water seems to cling in the legs making them feel heavy. You can over do vitamins, remember that you are also getting them in the foods that you eat. If you are over weight and want to loose weight but have problems changing your diet, eat at least one fruit everyday. It is a slow process but you can loose 10-15% body weight in a year and it will do wonders for your wellness.
I take a Centrum Complete multi-vitamin daily as well as 3 Omega-3 tablets daily. Bumptzer will be along shortly to tell you that you are wasting your money and to just eat a few extra bananas and you will be fine, but I have noticed a diffrence in the way I feel since I have been taking them and havent been sick yet this year.
I also take CC every day that I remember about them.
Getting over my first cold in 18 months right now and it's pretty much about to be gone in 48 hours. Sweet.
I take about the same vitamins that Flash takes plus 1200 miligrams of calcium daily. Vitamins are not a replacement for eating the right foods but I've always felt that they filled in the gaps when you don't eat right...
B-complex: every b vitamin (B1, B12, etc) helps your body process complex carbohydrates, as well as other healthy virtues. I also take calcium and glucosamine. I am looking into the Omega3 and the sawgrass palmetto, too, since I have high blood pressure now (and don't want prostate problems).
