clutch noise

Question clutch noise

when my bronco 2 idles in neutral there is a whirring sound from the clutch i know its the clutch becuase once you depress the clutch it gets silent the clutch dosent slip or sqeal nor rumble when released from a stand still in 1st so i dont think its rlated to the plates it may by the trans imput shaft any thoughts?

What transmission do you have? The Mitsubishi trannies frequently lose the input shaft bearing.
I would also suspect the throwout bearing.

how many miles on your clutch set.. i would suspect the release bearing b4 i would the input shaft.. either way i would pull the tranny to find out whats acutally going on

ive heard somene else with the same problem this noise is very quiet, nearly audiable when idleing i dont have a good work place at all so droping an engine or tranny in my back yard isnt a good idea. once i get my licence i will check more into it i think i have a mazda tranny (i think thats the one on 4x4's but im not sure i know one trannys for 2x4 and the other for 4x4) if it gets louder will look at the throw bearing the clutch only has about 30,000 on it so there shouldnt be ne problems with it unless the original bearing is in it
