To go from a 360 to a 390 is there anything that has to be done or is the out side the same size as the 360? Will the same intake, valve covers, oil pan and etc fit on a 390?
Absolutely, the 360 and the 390 sometimes used the same exact heads and always had the same oil pan. The ONLY difference in the 2bbl truck versions of the 360/390 is the crank, rods and pistons. Air cleaners just had different stickers.
David, The crank and piston set is the only difference in the two engines. The 360 is a destroked 390. If you are thinking about a rebuild build it back as a 390, you will not be disappointed.
