2006 factory navigation question?

Hey all...
I just purchased an 06 limited expedition with the factory navigation system....
Can someone explain how this nav. system works? I see I have like 12 map disks... Do I have to insert one of these each time I want to use the system?
What about a cross-country drive...? Leaving the east coast to the west coast?Do you have to change disks enroute? This seems like a major pain if true.
My friend's 2005 Lincoln Navigator just had 1 map loading disk.... He loaded it and he was done..... I guess you can't do this with Ford?

There should be instructions in your user's manual. I suggest looking there first, they usually tend to make it understandable.

The CD systems used a different disc for each region. The DVD systems were available as option on 8 different Ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles for 06 and use a single DVD. These units also hold 6 music CDs in the head unit.

There was a DVD system on some of the Lincoln vehicles prior to the new 06 Pioneer produced system.
