Hey everyone, my tranny finally went today at 260,488 miles. I just installed a set of warn hubs. I am just north of Fargo, ND for business and the weather started turning nasty. I locked the hubs but did not put the transfer case in 4wd. I felt a vibration when i started driving it but figured this was just the road and maybe the hubs are giving some vibration, well it's obvious that I was wrong. The vibration got louder so I was going to unlock the hubs well when the tranny shifted out of od it grenaded all over I-29. I saw sparks from parts flying and hitting the cement. I am now so f****d, i was going to sell this truck now i am stuck with it for awhile. Sorry for the rant but why do you think the tranny grenaded right through the bottom of the pan? What did i do wrong except figure the vibration was normal.
Holy moly. Did you get under the truck and expect the damage? Is there a hole in the pan? It almost sounds like you lost a u-joint and the driveshaft :/
Take a picture dont think I have seen this before only time have seen something like this happen is in a manual trans.
my buddy just had his trans rebuilt from a guy in the chicagoland area that rebuilt it and put a shift kit new torqe converter and drilled some holes bigger for more fluid to the back of the trans were the gears are and always blow up and put bigger clutchs. the dam thing is wild and gave a gurrantee knowing that he tows and has all those mods he says not worried. he only charged $1600.00 and gave a 2yr gurantee. we heard of this guy threw a frieand that has a big block camero and runs 980s in 1/4 mile and had the same trans for 2yrs and still strong
