Ok, one more question. Does anyone know if the t-case from an 95 exploder will bolt up to the output shaft housing on my 92 AWD? That's my biggest worry. I can fab up some mounts and get the driveshafts modified as needed, and wire in the electric shift. It's a Borg Warner 1354 Electric shift case... any ideas?
Shop told me they charge about a grand to rebuild my dana 28. I can get a good 1354 with shift motor for $125. Even with everything else I'd have to do to get it to fit, I think it'll still be cheaper. And might even extend my trans life/get better gas mileage to boot. the 1354 is a part time case, not a full time.
Any advice, info, links, facts is/are/will be greatly appreciated!
can buy rebuilt Dana28s online for less than $400....should be able to get a junk yard dog 30 day guarnt. for $150 or less...
you will probably have to find rear case/output shaft housing for A4LD out of a early 90's Explorer and output shaft
also you will need to research if the 92 Aero AWD computer feeds signals to the ECU/PCM to change shift points and engine performance during AWD operation.
Cheapest junk yard dana 28 i found was like $200+ and from what I've read, the 1354 is a lot stronger anyways. Looking at how the AWD is controlled on the aero, it appears that the AWD system is standalone. And besides, the shift points aren't computer controlled on a 92, i'm almost positive.
did I not tell you guy's I have a t-case from a 1992 exploder and the output shaft and case end for the a4ld tranny $100 plus you pay shipping and it's all yours, call me on 1 352 579 8888 I am in florida. But I am going back to england for vacation on 12/20/05 untill 1/7/06.
It also happens to be the transfer case too. Weird huh?
Well crap, I guess I should have checked for responses 2 days ago, then maybe I'd be able to get you to ship me the exploder t-case before your vacation. I don't know if the dana will hold up until you get back. Is it too late or is there still time?
