I own a 94.5 f450 7.3 psd and the other day the engine was hard to start when warm it would whril and whril and then finally start, but today i shut it off and when i tried to start it again no go.So with the weather getting colder out i thought it might be froze up so i got some diesel fuel conditioner and put it in and let it set for a few hours and it fired right up so i drove it back to our shop and shut it off and tried to start it again and no go again, can anyone please tell me what this might be thanks.
thanks for your reply i have a new starter the glowplugs and realy are new i have just reacently changed the oil and fuel filter,i do not know about the wiring. In regards to the hpop what do you mean by low,if the engine was right up on oil wouldn't it be full as well.
I'm thinking you might have bad orings on your IPR. If I read correctly it starts cold but then wont start when warm.... If thats the case, the thick oil when cold won't bypass the oring, but when warm the thinner warm oil leaks past the ipr oring and dosen't allow the system to pressure up. I helped a friend with the same problem on his 94 psd.

make sure you suck the oil out of the hpop first or you will have a 1 qt oil mess everywhere.
tahnks for your reply, just so i get this straight ipr stands for injection pressure regulator right? if so where is this located and how do i take this apart and fix it.
ipr is on the drivers side of the valley. on the back of the hpop. the same wires plug into it as the icp sensor. you should be able to see it right in front of the fpr. speaking of fpr it has to come off or remove the fuel canister. it looks easier to me to remoce it. that way you have lots of room to work.
