Removal

Note:
When replacing clutch master cylinder (7A543), remove tubing from vehicle for bench bleeding procedure.

µ 1. Disconnect the clutch master cylinder push rod from the clutch and brake pedal pivot shaft lever.

µ 2. Disconnect the clutch pedal position switch (CPP) (11A152).

µ 3. Remove the two clutch cylinder reservoir push pins.

4. WARNING:
THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE RH KICK PANEL AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.

Raise and support the vehicle.

µ 5. Disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the transmission (7003) using (A) Clutch Coupling Tool.

6. Lower the vehicle.

µ 7. Remove the clutch master cylinder reservoir and clutch master cylinder.

l Rotate the clutch master cylinder 45 degrees clockwise.

8. CAUTION:
Clean all rubber clutch master cylinder parts with Ford High Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or DOT 3 equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A.

Clean all clutch master cylinder components.

9. Inspect the clutch master cylinder for:

l Weak spring.

l Damage to any reservoir components.

l Damaged cups.

l Scored piston.

Installation

µ 1. Lightly clamp clutch master cylinder reservoir in a vise.

µ 2. Fill clutch master cylinder reservoir to full line.

l Use Ford High Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or DOT 3 equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A.

3. Place clutch slave cylinder end of tube in a waste container.

Note:
Make sure the clutch master cylinder reservoir is full during bleeding procedure to prevent air from entering the clutch master cylinder.

Note:
Bleed the clutch master cylinder until a solid stream of brake fluid exits at the quick connect coupling end of tube.

µ 4. Open the (A) internal mechanism of the male quick connect coupling and fully depress and hold the (B) clutch master cylinder push rod.

µ 5. Release the (A) internal mechanism of the quick end connector and release the (B) clutch master cylinder push rod.

µ 6. Install the clutch master cylinder.

l Rotate the clutch master cylinder 45 degrees counterclockwise.

µ 7. Install the two clutch master cylinder reservoir push pins.

µ 8. Connect the clutch pedal position switch (CPP) (9A837).

µ 9. Connect the clutch master cylinder push rod and retainer bushing.

Raise and support the vehicle.

µ 11. Connect the clutch hydraulic line to the transmission.

12. Lower the vehicle.

13. Note:
If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.
