I find used trac locs for the 10.25 axle in the yard once in a while.

Go for a locker of some type. I have the factory limited slop and am not at all impressed. Just wish those Powertrax lunchbox lockers were a bit less pricey. In the Arizona desert, we don't encounter much snow & ice so I'm not worried about the problems associated with lockers on the highway. I do get one wheel off the ground or in a puddle occasionally and could use the oomph of a locker. So for my $.02 worth, I believe the lts might be a waste of money.

good luck, I tried to buy a Powertrax No Slip (streetable) locker for my 04ex, two different companies told me that eventhough there is a part number in Powertrax catalog, they don't make them, are unavailible and will propbably never be made. I'm in same boat, looking to get rid of the open diff.

I've heard that the Powertrax for the lts case is available, but not for the open diff, per the guys in the below link. Which are you looking for? http://www.rocky-road.com/noslip.html

The Detroit Truetrac is a limited slip with no clutches but the performance of a limited slip.

It was my choice for a LS unit.

I am also in the same boat i got a open diff. and want a limited slip. Is putting a ford factory limited slip in easy, as in a do it yourself job i just want to swap in a new one.

Just measure the back lash on the ring gear before you remove it. Install your old ring gear on the trac loc carrier with new bearings and reshim it so you have the same back lash as you did prior to removal and you're good to go. Of course everything should be torqued and I would suggest usung a bit of loc tite on the ring gear bolts.
