Electric FWD shift problems question.

I had a problem with my mid 80's Bronco II shifting slow into FWD. I'v heard this is not uncommon.
Now I have the transfer case out of my '90 while putting in a new clutch. Is there any preventive maintenance I can do while its out to prevent this problem from happening? Lube some linkage or do something with the elec. motor? Don't know if it has been a problem with this particular one, I bought it with the clutch out, never have driven it.

Thanks, Al.

Ken00 has a link in his tech info post at the top of the forum regarding cleaning the shift motor. Likely worth a look.
