Axle shaft seals
Pulled the axle shafts out of my '79 F150 w/ a 9" rear end in it. The bearings it has in it are still good, does not have the sealed bearings, I need to replace the oil seals. I think the only way to replace the oil seal is to replace the bearings as well, I'm not positive though. My local parts store needs to know the rear axle capacity, the tag on the door reads 3350 lbs. Is there a higher rating for the rear axle on half tons? My question is since I have it torn apart, can I update them to a higher rating?
