hello to fellow X's, been here a while and now asking questions it's a 2000 2wd 5.4 xlt ...1st one is can a 4wd rear block be taken off a junker and be put on to provide the xlt with a level ride? ...2nd still looking for the code not behind the radio and not by the jack,,,to cheap to have the code pulled..and speaking of code does anyone use a laptop scanner/code reader off the internet and what are your like's and dis like's.... thats all for today.... yippppe 1st post
I added 1" blocks to my '00 V10 2wd. It did a nice job of correcting the a__ end sag that it came standard with.
After I added the blocks, I installed Air Lift air bags and with the 5 psi minimum pressure, it seemed to lift a little more. That's why I'm going to just add the Air Lifts to the '05 and see what it looks like. (In warmer weather) The '05, by the way, doesn't sag near as much as the '00 did. Maybe the 6.0L weighs the front end down enought to compensate.
I think adding a leaf would be the least desirable option for a slight 'lift', unless you need a bit more capacity. These vehicles ride enough like a truck for me. IMHO, of course.
Having added an add-a-leaf to my 05 2wd, I can say that it actually IMPROVED the ride characteristics of the truck by keeping things in a bit more control back there. That bit more spring sure doesn't hurt. It sound contradictory that makingthe rear springs stiffer would create an uncomfortable ride but our trucks are under-damped and way under-sprung.
Much of the poor ride can be blamed on the weak suspension.
It also added rear ride height. Info & before/after pics are in my gallery.
