Exclamation Bubbles/Spark Plug Question

Hey ALL,

Yday I noticed , believe it or not, bubbles from the 3rd plug drivers side. Called my gearhead brother and he says it may be that my plug may be loose. Has anyone else had this happen to them? My truck runs fine and all but this has me worried. Should I just go ahead and put new plugs in? Someone let me now something about this please. And yes, the truck was running when I seen the bubbles

BTW....'90 B2
193551 miles on it

one more thing...noticed more oil on engine lately....checked valve covers bolts and they are good. Put a can of engine stop leak in her just for GP

I would start by seeing if it's loose, it does happen.

The 2.9L are known for leaking valve covers, you have to replace the gaskets to stop it, no other option.

Now that I think about it, are the bubbles just bubbling burning oil?

Hey Ken,

Yeah I believe it is oil I see. I did check my oil level and I didn't noticed a change in the level. I have been lucky as far as my B2 not using/burning that much oil. I plan on changing the plugsd this weekend anyway and afterwards I will go to the carwash and spray my engine down. Probably change the valve caover gaskets too just to be save.
Thanks for thr reply

Clean the area around the plugs before you start, you don't wan't all that stuff droppini into the cylinders and on the threads.

The 2.9Ls aren't known for burning oil but those valve covers like to leak. When you do the covers, make sure everything is cleaned very well, the covers a flat were they meet the head, use the blue fel-pro gaskets, only use sealer were they tell you, put the load spreads back in the exact location they come from and don't over-tighten the bolts (this is a common cause of leaking covers).

if/when you do change the plugs i would not go with the bosch plats... i have them in my truck and have lots of problems with them..some of my friends that are using them are dont satisfied with them either.. i would use autolites or motorcraft (they have the same parent co. so its up to you which u get. but its the same plug)

oK EVERYONE...
Replaced my spark plugs and checked everything out and my valve cover gaskets need to be replaced but I believe I will do hat when I gwet back from Korea or have my gearhead brother due it while I am gone. My B2 seems to have a little bit more pep since the plug change but its probably my imagination...oh well!

Hope everyone has/had a great Xmas and a Happy New Year to All !!!
