havoline
as you can tell i like havoline,but darn it is getting scarce around here.heck the 5w20 is almost impossible to find.wal mart was totally out but i found one case of 5w30 sat nite and i snagged it.advance is also out of 5w20 as is autozone.what is the deal

Valvoline and Havoline are made by different companies/refineries at least according to the labels. I don't think they ever(in my tinkering lifetime since the late 60s) were from a common company, but I am guessing sometime way in the dark past they must have had a connection. Kind of like Champion and AC(Albert Champion) spark plugs, an interesting story behind that, either divorce or business shenanigans depends who you believe.
I believe Chevron bought Texaco a couple years back and so I am guessing Chevron is putting their oil out thru the Texaco sales channels. I too have had a hard time finding Havoline(syn) so I guess I have to switch the wife's van over to either Valvoline syn or Mobil 1 or I might even go with the Chevron Supreme which I hear is excellent even tho it is just dino, sniff.
I use Havoline syn in the wife's van since psychologically I think of it as a lesser vechile and so I feel guilty using expensive syn in it. The Havoline syn was a buck cheaper than the usuals.
