Mark,
Doesn't Banks make a cat-back system? I have been looking at and like the MBRP but don't want a system that's going to be too loud. Bruce

Kind of like Mustangs for the last 20 years, folks have been adding headers and cat back exhaust but leaving the cats totally stock and the dealers are happy with that. Call us if you want we have the MBRP duals in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless materials to fti everybodies budget and enviroment where they live.

Thanks Jimmy-Six,
I looked at the Gibson on-line after you mentioned them, but they don't have a lot of pics. That's good that they are not too loud. Does the dual tail pipes clear everything just fine? I have a fifth wheel hitch, but the brackets are on the outside of the frame and I don't see a problem with duals. Bruce

I think the noise level stays low because of the 2 tail pipe see an equal amount of the engines exhaust.
I am not an exhaust expert I just know what I like and I use what works. I compare the Gibson workmanship to the Burns Stainless system I use on my Bonneville race car. If you want to see "class" stuff go to Burns Stainless on the net. With info given them they designed a system for my racing engine which they had never done one before...Good Luck

Yeah, I'm having the same problem making up my mind also as doing the exhaust is not cheap and if it's too loud that will make it worse. I'm not a teenager anymore and I'm tired of that in-cab drone. My 1989 Chevy K2500, sorry guys, with a 350 small block had a flowmaster and it was little noisy. Thank God for the 800 watts of stereo. I think some of the diesel trucks I hear that are too loud have the cats removed, which will really increase flow and noise. Bruce

I just put the Banks Monster Exhaust cat back on my '06 F-350 PSD.
I did'nt know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.
I'm also no kid anymore and did'nt want anything to obnoxious. This was just right.

It sounds stock till you get up in the rpm's, then it has a deeper tone, just what I was looking for. Just a slight bit more turbo wine also.

I know a guy with the Banks exhaust on an '05 and he removed the cat and it's much louder and alot more turbo wine. He's also no kid anymore pushing 60 years old.
I did'nt want to do anything where there is a chance they'll void the warranty, so I'd leave the cat. Not worth it IMO and it's there for a reason.
I'm very happy with the Banks and got it for $600 delivered.

My stock system is now for sale cause... I have a new MBRP on my truck and I love it.

Gives a little grumble at start up - quite in cab - and nice grumble under acceleration. It looks great as well. Went with the 409 since most of it is hidden then slapped a 304 tip on the end. Gotta go try it out some more. Oh yea...stock syestem is free, you come pick it up before the garbage man does!!!

The Gibson clears everything on mine I don't tow a 5th wheel or have anything mounted in the bed. I feel that every system that keeps the Cat will be "quiet." I'm over 60 so I was looking for a little extra performance without too much being spent. I paid just over $400 for it and I know it will never be recouped over the lifetime of the truck. I just like the look of tail pipes out each side. My love of the 50's I guess. I bought the last set of Centerline wheels that look like the Auto Drags too, just because I like them. I like chrome too. Took a year to find a stock chrome grille which looks great on these trucks....Ford should have done that too.....Good Luck

Linden bruce,

Yes I think they do, as does MBRP, but here the difference. If you change the down pipe you drop some EGT's increase spool up and if you leave the cat in place the sound level stays the same anyway. So for most folks doing the turbo back is the way to go. But either way you decide we have cat back and turbo back systems.

I've got an MBRP on my 01 powerstoke and I love it, couldn't imagine a better system. Install was a snap too. My Dad has an 05 6.0 and I think he'll end up with an MBRP before it's all said and done, he's jealous cause my truck sounds so much better. LOL. I gotta have at least one advantage, right?

Okay guys, Thanks for all of your individual input on my 6.0lt exhaust question. It looks like the major players I am looking at are all good systems that are not too loud, just what I'm looking for. Now I have to come up with some dough and just buy one. Thanks again for all of your replies. LindenBruce

Banshee Ben,

Yep I heard about that one slipped through the proverbial crack!!! Please tell her we are terribly sorry, but hey now maybe you can talk her into the gauges that go into the mount as a bonus since you found out. Hey tell her you and I planned it this way and see if that works, or if it gets you and me in the serious dog house!!

BTW, The Banks exhaust I just put on came with the downpipe so that would be the Turbo back kit?
I said cat back system in my prior post.

Yeah, I figured that out when I went to E-Bay and found their add. It was no biggie, I figured they would also off the cat back system too. LinbenBruce

I installed the MBRP 304 stainless cool duals from the turbo back and left the cat in. It took 2 hours with no hoist (and a 12 pack) Everything was just like the instuctions said with no surpises. The 5" tips make the system look fantastic and its only loud if you stand on it. I even stopped by the factory in Huntsville Ontario, and they took pictures of my truck and told me that they made this system for guys like me who want to work on their oun trucks. I'm very satisfied with MBRP.....Ô¿Ô

I am running a Magnaflow Turbo back and it's awsome. Full stainless with a 5" tip. Looks and sounds great. Lots of "jet" whistle when on high idle, but no more noise in the cab than stock, when driving normal. Step on it and it gets a little louder. The kit came as a cat back or a turbo back. Tried the cat back first, then replaced the down pipe and removed the cat. The cat won't be going back on!! Been to the dealer a few times and no problems. They basicaly said that the truck is obviously not run hard and unless there's a problem that is directly related to the exhaust being altered, no probs with warrenty. I would reccomend this system to anyone.
I am also running it on my Duromax (02) and again, an awsome system.
