cracked block, repair
I recently aquired a 72 429. I have not torn it down yet but have noticed a crack in the rear of the block at the water jacket. The engine has been sitting for years and I have yet to begin to tear it down. My question is if this crack is restricted to this one location only would having it welded by a pro be good enough to continue with the build on that block. I have already decided to replace the D2VE heads and was wondering if I should strip this motor and start with another.

well i think if you know someone thatr can weld cast good it should be fine i am a welder and cast is very tricky to weld so make shure you take it to someone that you know will do a good job i always try to find a good block befor repairing a cracked on but they r gettin tough and spendy to find now days. if you decide to keep the block and get it fixed it should be fine
