I have a 79 3/4 ton 4x4 4 speed with a 300 stright 6. i need a wiring harness for it. Its my dads truck and i have been restoring it for him. we put a 75 cab on it and set it up for AC, although we dont have a compressor yet. we also have a 73 donor truck that had AC at one time. For some reason all three wiring harnesses have been cut and spliced everywhere, and the insulation is beginning to peel off. I know painless makes kits but w/ GM ends and thats no good. and i have had problems w/ painless's kits before. so if anyone can tell me where to find a wiring harness to fit the 79 w/ AC, please let me know. Thanks!

thats an option and i've looked around but all of them are either cut and spliced or have been eaten up by mice. I was looking for a brand new wiring harness. i could have bought one from ford a few years ago, but i tried to get one a month after production had stopped and they said i couldnt get one. if only i had been there a month earlier!
ok thanks, i will check them out. I have been lookin around and calling a few places, and i think i may have found one that is close enough that i can travel to look at the truck. i'll see how that one is first, that is as soon as i can get enough time in the next few days to go out there. But thanks again, i appriciate your help!
But still, if anyone know where i can buy a new wiring harness please let me know. id much rather have a new one than the originals. I could wire up a totally new one myself as long as i could get a good ford wiring diagram and a place to buy new ford ends.

I bought a fuse panel at E&B Marine and am going to wire mine from scratch. The trucks are pretty simple and you can probably do a better job than ford did anyway. Atleast when I'm done with it it will be easy to work on. I never could understand why they love to hide the fuse panels where you have to stand on your head to do anything with them. I'm gonna mount mine on the passengers kick panel out in the open and wire from there.

the rubber connector plugs you can get right from napa or carquest, not sure what else you'll need, but let me know and I'll see if I can find a source. I haven't chased down all the plugs yet I don't plan on doing it for a few months. I did buy the panel, I think it was about 25 bux at E&B. they also make a 6 circuit if you want to run dual panels. I was thinking aobut having a seperate panel for keyed and battery feed.
hey thanks! i talked to those guys a couple of years ago and they didnt have a harness yet. they wanted mr to send in mine so they could duplicate it. i see that now they do have a harness available. i'll check it out and get a price. thanks again.
