I need to do something with my suspension. The shocks are tired on my old truck. She's a 79' F150 4x4 standard cab. I don't want to spend a arm and leg but need some advise on what route to follow.
I use the truck for general truck type hauling, lots of dump runs lterally every weekend while I gut a house I bought and the acreage is junked up badly too. Lots of hauling in my future.
I recently started pulling on a regular basis somewhat. I'm rebuilding a CJ7 for trail riding, and until I can replace this truck, which I may never do, will tow the Jeep. I also tend to help folks out with moving stuff, other trucks or Jeeps from a local club I run with.
Now, with towing, is there a better style/type shock to purchase? How much does shocks affect handling and ride? I don't recall ever replacing shocks on any of my rigs.....
Can you get shocks and steering stabilizers in a package?
If your trying to save a buck I'd go with Monroe Matic-Plus.Theyr'e decent shock and fairly cheap w/warranty.I normally run Gas-Magnums on the front and Matic-plus on the rear,(the magnums usually cost twice as much).
If you haven't got your new shocks yet, you may want to check out 4wheelparts.com They have a sale on Procomp shocks that includes a steering stabilizer. I don't know much about procomp shocks and can 't tell you if they are any good.
