ok i am no chevy guy at all , but going thru the junkyard today i noticed what i think was a 1969 or 70 chevy 1 ton truck. it had a enormus rear end. i have never ever seen such large drum brakes. looked like 13'' or 14'' x 5'' drums. there was another truck like it a few rows back. i have seen the large dana 70 dually axles, but this dually axle was huge made the dana look wimpy. any idea on what axle this was. it looked to be a 1 ton truck.thanks
Well, if the center section pulls out the front, that isn't a Salisbury, it has a 14 bolt diff cover, I haven't a clue if it came out the front, haven't seen any of those.
GM used Rockwell axles in some 1-ton models. Rockwell (now part of ArvinMeritor) was more of a heavy truck supplier of axles, transmissions and brakes. I used to work for them.

I agree with Jim. I have seen one of these before. It looks out of place.
