I was driving to work this morning and all of a sudden bam! No head lights. I pulled of the well lit road and let it sit thinking I just over heated something. Well I let it sit for 10 minutes and still nothing. I turned on my brights and one of them worked. After work I went and got a new light and just put it in. Guess what no lights at all. No brights or anything. Everything else works great. All other lights work. What happened? Where do I go from here?
sounds like you have a problem with the wiring to the lights... or maybe the switch is fryed. you should test connections and grounds with a volt meter
Hi Austin: similar thing happened to me. Started the 81 courier and no lights. The fuses looked good but the ends were loose. Changed the fuses and wiggled the fuse box to see if a short was there and they have been working fine.
Austin, my 72 did the same thing, after hours of checking everything I found a dead short in the wiring harness where it crosses the battery box.All the vibration over the years had worn thru the wire insulation and the wire finally welded itself to the battery box.I taped it back up and cut a length of small hose that I slit the long way then taped it over the whole thing. That was years ago and no more light problems. Hope this helps.
