worth the time?

Im looking at a 1992 f-250 diesel with a banks turbo, 5spd, new clutch and glow plugs... 120,000miles one of my dads really good friends who is also a bad *** mechanic as owned it since new and is selling it to me for 3300. Are the pre power stroke diesels worth a flip even if they are turboed?

I have a 93 - 350 natural air and it has 205K on it. It is a good workhorse motor nothing speedy. For 185 hp motor it is a good engine. My clutch cost over 1500 to put in. They also had to do the flywheel.

If maintained as well as you say, and the mechanic/owner is really as "bad ***" as you say, the truck will chirp the tires in 2nd gear and whip yer neck back. And with ONLY 120k miles, if you're dumb enough not to buy it for half what it's worth , I'll buy it. Can you hear me? BajaGringo

yeah the guy really is a bad ***..... he built his a 64 falcon with a 427fe motor himself and it is running 8s naturally aspirated! He is really amazing. Im not so much concerned about speed the reason im buying the truck is to tow my 88 fox body mustang back and fourth to the track

I know guys that pull 12,000+ lbs all over creation for a living with these trucks. It won't even know your mustang/trailer is back there. Baja

my 88 4X4 7.3 with banks turbo and 5 speed was getting 25+mpg on long runs with cruise set at 60mph. as for towing power, you will just bearly feel a mustang back there. i pulled a 1500lb trailer with a 17000lb mini excavator on top of it 500 miles, and only had to downshift on steep hills.

on another note the truck is suprisingly quick....it has full legth 4 inch exhaust, and the banks turbo sounds pretty slick. What kind of numbers is the truck making?
