High idle

High idle
Hi all, I'm new to this forum.
I have an 86 Ranger 2.9, 2wd, auto. My problem is with a high idle, even when warmed up. I pull up to a stop, place in neutral, idle comes back to normal. Along with this problem I noticed static on the radio (AM only) while the idle is high but dissappears when the idle comes back to normal. Very perplexing

Welcome to FTE!!!
I would start by pulling the codes, the KOER test should pick up this type of problem. I have a link on doing this in the tech info thread at the top of this forum, pulling eec-iv codes.
