Bad Battery?

I have a 1998 Expedition and it turns over slow when cold but when it is running the amp gauge reads normal and after you shut it off and try to start it back up it starts fine.After it sits for awhile it will do the same thing again.I am wondering if it is the battery.Seems there arent enough amps to start it anymore when cold.What do you guys think?Thanks for any info

Batteries do weaken with age and lose capacity and starting power. Sounds like yours is getting to that time.

What is a good way to check it,I want to be sure and not just by a battery and it be something else?

You could load test it. Most auto parts the sell batteireis will load test old battery for free.

also there is no amp gauge in the car to go buy. it is a fixed posistion voltmeter. the only real gauge is the gas gauge the others are fancy idiot lights
