Steering shaft u-joint replacement:
I need to replace my upper u-joint in my steering shaft on my '78 F250 4x4. It is the one with the small u-joint that is connected to the shaft coming out of the column.
I know that JBG sells them, but they are a fortune. I would rather find a new u-joint assembly, cut off the old u-joint assembly, then weld the new one on the end of my shaft.
Where can I just get the u-joint assembly besides the junkyard?
Ryan.

Steering shaft u-joint replacement:
Bad idea welding on steering assemblies! LMC has new ones but your right they are pricey $299 for the entire assembly. I once made new bushings for the U joint from copper pipe, probably not very safe either, but it worked real nice.
