I have a 2005 ford Sports-trac with a CD radio. The menu button has 3 things that come up when pressed, autoset, speed sensitive volume and setting the clock. When Speed volume is showing you can press the SEL button + or - and change from 0 to 7 on the screen. All this works just fine, but the volume does not change with my speed. The dealer said this is not installed on my radio. What's up?

I've got an '05 XLT with the Single CD/MP3 radio head with speed sensitive volume.
Mine volume does, indeed, increase volume with speed. As for yours not being "hooked up".....
Sounds fishy to me.Try another dealer, or call Ford (800 Number) and ask them whether it should be working, given that a radio with that feature was installed in your vehicle.
I have no clue what makes the radio know it needs to be louder (passive mic somewhere, "speed" input from the compooter, etc...) I can't believe it's THATsophisticated---therefore I assume it's all housed/controlled from within the radio unit itself.
If it IS housed/controlled from within the radio unit itself, then, there's NO reason it shouldn't work.
I'll do a little snooping and see if I can get more info.
i dont know about the factory radio but i have a pioneer head unit with speed sensitive volume in wich i can adjust like yours it has a mic in it that will turn the volume up as the road noise goes up so the faster i drive the more the road noise goes up the more the volume goes up if i open my window the volume goes up even more hope this helps
I have a 05 F-150 with the single CD radio and a 05 XLT with the 6 CD radio. Both have auto volume adjust for speed increase. I found out that unless you set the number higher than 4, you will not really notice the increase in volume. If you have not already try a higher number. at 6 you really notice volume change.
Yes I have it set on 7. The dealer had a "radio guy" check it out & install a new radio. No joy! They said the truck did not have Auto Volume. Do you know what kind of radio it is?
Did you buy this vehicle new? Do you still have the window sticker? It should tell you what radio came in the vehicle. It'slenty new enough that you should be able to chase this down through a local dealer or Ford if you purchased the vehicel used.
My wife and I have a Jaguar "S" type. The radio has a button for a telephne that did not come with the car. Point is, I guess it's possible that the feature would show up on the display when the vehicle does not have the feature but I would think it's unlikely.
Yes this is a new truck. The window sticker did not list a radio. I guess its standard equipment for a 2005 sport trac XLT prem. What I wanted to know was the make of the radio.
