1987-1991 Roof repair or cab swap
Our 1988 F250 has a rusted roof the truck sat for three years and the cablights rusted the roof out. It looks to be a discontinued panel. Does anyone have a suggestion or source for 87-91 cab roof panels?
On the other hand I can get cabs for the truck but what kind of VIN number problems do you run into? I know it is illegal to cut vin #'s. Any how to info on cab swapping?

Well you can swap the cab, i would call ur local liscnece office and talk to them about the VIN number issue, might have to provide proof of sale on the used cab.
You can cut the roof off as a whole,
If you decide to keep the cab... check the floors, cab corners, and basically the lower part of the cab where the water running in...has gone.

Why do people change cab roofs in the way pictured above????????? Next time try drilling the factory spot welds along the cab back panel where it meets the floor. Then inside along the rocker panel, where the inner cab corner meets the rocker. Then you have only one major splice at the windshield, "A" pillar, to deal with.
This how the factory made the truck. Its about twice as fast as doing it in the way pictured. NO problems fitting the rear glass. NO problems fitting doors. Will still have some strength for roll over protection.
