My 2001 F150 set for two days in 10-25 degree weather. When I drove it to work the sevice engine light came on after two or three miles. Could this be a result of the cold weather and it will reset on its own or should I have something to worry about. I have had only one cold start since it first appeared and have not had a chance to pull the code or reset it.
I just got to read the code for my SERVICE ENGINE light that popped up during a cold spell last week. It was P0174 "System too lean, Bank 2". could this have been caused by my 2001 F150 being parked for two days in very cold weather. I cleared the code to see if it will come back.
Possible. It could also be a dirty MAF or possible vacuum leak at one of the PCV hose elbows. These usually throw codes for both banks being lean though. I'd wait and see if it comes back again.
id look for a vac leak on the drivers side....even stupid stuff like the oil dipstick not fully seated can cause "unmetered air" entering the engine and cause lean codes. sounds stupid, but i have seen it.
Since clearing the P0174 code, I have put over 300 miles on the truck and no problems. We have had several nights with the temp in the mid 20's and so far so good. I'm going to wait and see if it returns with the next real cold snap, before I start looking deeper. Thanks for all the suggestions and help.
