429 piston rods

Hey guys, I am a complete rookie and I have a 1970 429 that I want to rebuild. When I was taking the crank out to have it checked, I took the caps off the rods and I did not keep up with which cap went with which rod. From what I have read the D00E rods that I have are desireable. So is there a way to match them back up or am I gonna have to get new ones.

They should have numbers on the side of the cap ends. Clean them up and you should see them. If not then they will need to be resized and you should install new rod bolts which if one is building the motor then this is not a bad idea anyways.

yes the football shaped rod bolts are the better rods to have in stock form. These were first used in the SCJ and CJ motors and they are also used in truck motors.

those r good rods but my advice would be to go with an aftermarket set like the egale i beams they r cheap about 375.00 and they come with arp bolts in them i have seen alot of engines get blown because of stock rods but if you rilly want to use the stock rods rtm is right and be shure to get them magnaflexed
