My '03 has the same problem, it doesn't engage consistently and when it does it acts doesn't stay in all the time. I've had it to the dealership three times, they've replaced the forks already and said everything else looked ok. Well I tried it in the field next to my house the following day and still have the same problem. I'm to the point where I don't know what else to do!

I've been told it was a 'vacuum thing',I don't know if I should spend the $120 to try a new gizmo at the differential or what, your story isn't that encouraging,eh?Hey we're only s'posed to get a foot of snow tomorrow night, and my driveway is way steep.Going to the Ford dealer tomorrow,if I get any thing to tell I'll let ya know.

You're right, duh.Except I forgot to mention that I've already got 77,000mi.and no extended warranty so I'm up the creek, but I do have good news...no not Geico. On mine I took off the vacuum motor/pump?on the front diff.and blew it out as advised by a guy and evidently that rod can get bent or moisture gets in there,it wasn't bent, but I put it back and so far it works first try....so far.See ya.
