Now that the temp is down near zero in Kansas, both of my cars have a whining sound coming from what seems like the power steering pump for the first few minutes until it warms up. The whine varies when you turn the wheel back and forth. Belts are fairly new on one car.
The whine seems much louder than what I remember last year. Is this a signal that the power steering pumps are going bad? Or is there some other reason causing the whine. Thanks for the help
What I was told (in the Ranger forum) is that this is a sign you should flush the power steering system. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, so I don't know for sure.
