I just ordered a 2006 Harley F250 diesel 4x4 fully loaded, and I am wondering what is the best way to increase my MPG and performance. I am also looking into chrome grill guards and skid plates. Any help will be appreciated.
Conservative tuning, if you're so inclined. I'll let you read other threads for the religious wars.
Synthetic oil. Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W40 bought me 1MPG and quieter start/operation.
Fuel additives. Stanadyne bought me about 1MPG as well, though I'm switching to Power Service Diesel Kleen becaue Stanadyne is impossible to find, whereas PS/DK is available at ChinaMart.
You're driving a big truck... don't expect 30MPG out of it either!
A buddy was telling me that about something that I need to do as soon as i get the truck though to improve MPG. I also saw some threads about bigger pipes and such. I would like some input about the air intake and pipes. Don't worry about cost! I want a MEAN MACHINE!!!
For the grill guard portion of the question, I would start by looking at what Westin has to offer. I had a great experience with some of their products on a former vehicle (grill guard & step bars), and they covered the parts with one of the best warranties (including the chrome plating itself) on the market.
I also seen a post yesterday about some guy getting automatic steps for his wife. Now I seen an article in one of the Trukin' magazines about a guy that had lifted his truck and had retractable steps put on his truck. Here is my dilemma, I am 6'3 and my Fiancee is 5'4 1/2, WHEN I lift the truck, she is going to have a hard time getting into the truck. Does anyone know where I can find those retractable steps and do they come in CHROME? I am more interested in Performance than the MPG. That is what the BMW Z4 is for. I want something that is going to pull my 81 Jeep CJ-7 and 4 wheelers like there is nothing back there. Especially going through the Ozark mountains!!!
