As this is my first post, I hope this is the right place for it..
I have what i thought was a '74 4x4 f-350 w\390, 4 speed, divorced case...then I saw a post that said ford didnt make a 350 4wd in '74...
The front axle has a ball type socket\joint on the ends...
The body had been changed before I got it to a 78 body, and Ive done a body swap since, so I have no idea on original body style.
Any ideas in finding out what Ive really got..and does anyone know if ford did in fact make a f-350 4wd in '74 ? It dosent look like a 2 to 4 wheel conversion at all...
Find the VIN on the frame and post it. I'm not sure about 4x4's, but on 2x's the frame VIN is on top of the right side frame rail, near the front wheel.
I don't know about 1974, but in the late 60s, an F350 4x4 would have "F36" as the first three characters in the VIN ("F35" would be a 350 2wd, "F26" would be a F250 4x4, etc.). Someone here on FTE will surely be able to decode it for you, though.

Actually, they started making them in late 78. I have a 78 F 350 4x4 dana 60 front dana 70 rear.

That's F-350, as in model of the truck, not the engine size. You are correct they make the 351M and a 351 Windsor wich wasn't available in a truck until the mid 80's.
