Thats what I'm trying to use to make it work....in theory, anything will fly. It's obvious that a supercharger weouldn't do the trick. We're probabl talking missile propulsion by now...I still just always wanted to know.

As for the ramp thing, it would never work without propulsion, because it would top out at 180 going down the ramp, right?

So far i sounds like we're looking at somewhere in the area of 18,000 mph and a 40-45º departure angle....I guess. How much runway do you need to get a Bronco going 18,000mph with a rocket?

I think you might need a 300 shot of nitrous and a supercharger to go along with the overbore.....~

Wait till winter and drive there on the ice.

That was my son's suggestion for a trip to Hawaii when he was 2

And a Bronco is a real brick to fly at 18,000mph - rides comfortable, but handles poorly.

No, you can get a Bronco to go faster down a ramp, it just requires more force. You're probably thinking of freefall and terminal velocity - that's where wind resistance counteracts gravitational accelation.

Rockets generally don't need ramps. You're really just sticking a hunk of metal (extra weight) on the tip of a, well, rocket. Kinda like putting a bicycle on the front of a truck and asking how fast you need to pedal - OK, not the best analogy...

I'd rather know what kind of drivetrain you'd need and how many RPMS to get up to that speed - then you would need a ramp....and alot of horses and maybe a 5 speed?

If the rocket was used to turn the wheels somehow, then you would need a ramp.

Anyone remember the F-4 Phantom, a US fighter jet from the 60's and 70's? Of course you do. There was a line in a movie or something that said the F-4, "was Americas proof to the world that with a big enough engine, even a brick could fly"

I always loved that line.....

ok i get your ramp idea, except if its like a giant ski jump ramp design get this, as you reach your needed speed at the bottom of the ramp and start up towards launch, the downward g forces would suck your eyeballs out from under your toenails and you would be shooting vertibrae out your you know what. know this can't be done but wrap your mind around the visual of this happening in a bronco as it melts from the air friction of the speed oh my gawd this is some funny stuff

One of those steam accelerators on an air craft carrier can launch a truck about a quarter mile; I'd say start there and get some research data. Next, build a large trebuchet and launch a truck with it; collect more data. Be sure to test trebuchet with empty beer kegs first.
