Low Range won't engage 93 F-150 4x4

I have a 93 F150 4x4 with a 5.0 litre 4 speed automatic OD transmission. It has electric 4x4 with auto locking hubs. There are 2 buttons to the right of the instrument clusters to engange the 4x4 and the low range. The 4X4 engages and works great on 4x4 (or 4x4 high) but will not engage for the low range. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First engage 4x4. Stop, put trans in neutral, and then try 4Lo. If that doesn't work, you may have a problem with the transfercase or the motor that shifts it. Hope this helps.
