Steering wheel problem
I bought a steering wheel puller and the damn thing stripped out the threads in the steering wheel. How in the world do I get it off now? Any ideas?
Thanks, jdog
You don't want to use too big of a hammer though because it is possible to damage the steering column and loosen the shaft resulting in lots of endplay. A few whacks with a small hammer will do it. Speaking of whacks with a hammer, that's what my therapist said about my bum brain, too.

I just did mine today and had the same problem.
if it has the same setup as my '95 you won't be able to tap in new threads as they are blind holes and not very deep, but if you only pulled the threads once you can try next size up bolts.
try to use a fine thread and if possible a grade 8 or "drill steel" bolt. and make sure you put cap nut on if you have the hollow shaft.
good luck
one trick that has worked for me in the past with tough steering wheels is to take up the tension with the puller and get it as tight as you can before the possibility of any slippage and then get out the trusty ball peen hammer and tap the puller bolt a few times, not too hard
. often just tapping it a few times will pop it free without even having to put the socket back on it.
