Transmission Clunk when cold
I have a 1994 F150 with the 4R70W tranny with 77,000 miles. I have recently noticed when driving for the first few miles there is a pronounced clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. It also makes clunking noises randomely when accelerating or decelerating. Seems to stop making noise after it warms up. It doesnt happen everyday just after it has been under 10 degree F. I just changed the tranny fluid about 5000 miles ago. I think it may be the torque converter but if anyone has any other input I would appreciate it.

I have a '96 with the same tranny and it clunks too when going from first to second. If it is not the mounts, then does anyone think it could be the torque converter "slamming" downt to first gear and how can a fella check the reliability of a torque converter?

Thanks for the help. I tightened the mounts where they attached to the frame. They were visibly loose, I could turn them with my fingers. Now that they have been tightened I havent heard the clunking noise since.
