Dash light problem

I have a 1988 F150 XLT Lariat. The dash lights will not come on at all. I have swapped it for two different dashes and still nothing. The harnesses look good, and the fuse is good. Any ideas?

I second Roger's opinion. Replace the switch.

Samething for me as well. Make sure you replace the connector too. You'll problaby see it burnt up as mine did. This will be my second time doing the same job over again on my 89. You'll also probably smell it too.

Could this also be the reason my white reverse lights are constantly on as well?

Reverse lights should be on a different circuit. But who knows. The light switch is usually just a bad connection with the spring. (the spring is part of the varable resistance) Take the switch bracket off and poke around the spring connection. The shop manual will also show you where to check for resistance change is for the headlight switch. The reverse lights, I would think that is from the output sensor on the side of the transmission. If you take that sensor off, it should have a ball looking thing on the back of it. That may be stuck in.
