New F150 screw 4x4 owner and have several questions.
1) I will allow my truck to warm up for a good 15 minutes each morning before I head off to work. However, despite the warm up, it still does not blow warm air until I put a few miles on it. To be blunt, that annoys me. I want to get into a warm truck in the morning and not have to deal with cold hands etc. Is this normal for the F150's with the 5.4 engine?
2) I would like to put in an oil warmer so that while it is sitting the engine is at least staying warm so that my start up's are not hard on the truck (I am all about extending the life of this truck). Can you recommend any brand or way of accomplishing this?
If it has the mechanical clutch fan I would look at installing a electric unit. It really helps a truck warm up. Your truck should be warming up faster. Your temp gauge should be nearly normal from a mile of driving after a 15 minute warm up.
There are several types of oil warmers and the main thing to look for is for one that wont "cook" the oil.
After idling for 15 minutes, you should have a nice warm cab. If not, then there is a problem. I don't think it's the engine fan. Could be bad thermostat - does engine warm up during 15 min warmup? Could be bad/plugged heater core - are both heater hoses hot when engine is warm? Could be problem with hot/cold doors in dash.
