I have a problem with the running lights on my 82 f-250. When I turn the lights off the running lights continue to stay on. The only way to shut them off is to pull the fuse. What could be my problem? So far I have replaced the headlight switch and the dimmer switch. I replaced the headlight switch because the headlamps would flash after they had been on for a while. I was hoping this would cure my running lamp problem but it didn't. The dimmer switch would no longer switch, so I replaced it.
If I pull the switch out an push it back in within 1 minute it will not cause the running lights to stay on. It acts like it has to energize for 2 to however many minutes. What is the problem?
From jump sounds like the main light switch. But after reading deeper into it sounds like you might have a wire on the switch or somewhere down the line that is bare and close to a bare power source. Unless you got a switch thats like newer cars leaves the interior lights on and is keeping the parking lights on. It is not uncommon for a new switch to be bad either.

More than likely he's correct. The wiring has a tendency to melt near the headlight switch plug. There is a wire that is hot all the time that feeds the headlights and another tan/white that feeds the running light circuit going into the headlight switch. Coming out of the switch is a brown wire. This feeds all the running lights. Look to see if it's melted into one of the other hot wires where they are bundled together.
